Interviews: Jazz_Invincible
Last updated 23 Aug 2005
Jenn: Jazz, Mr. Amazingone, use one word to describe yourself.
Jazz_Invincible: That's easy! "Obsessiveavatarfreakwholovestocollectnerkmids" Ok ok, so that may be cheating a little. We'll go with "Obsessed".
Jenn: Are you o0ber? xD
Jazz_Invincible: Of course! Everyone in the o0ber guild is o0ber... Providing you're not a scammer, cheater, hacker or harrasser... then you're o0ber too! That doesn't quite mean an automatic invite into the guild though. You have to be a bit random, without being too weird... and we don't want the guild having -too- many members now do we?
Jenn: Why the name "Jazz_Invincible"? I suppose you think you're Bond now, don't you?
Jazz_Invincible: Bond? Not at all... I'm Perry. Jazz Perry. Now get me a Rootbeer on the rocks. Shaken... not stirred.
Mmm... Rootbeer. A lot of people ask me about my username. Well, it wasn't my first! I've had numerous accounts on Neopets.com and back in the "old" days, I wasn't as careful. I got scammed twice, frozen for inappropriate messages once... I was even frozen for "cheating at Flash Games". There was a problem with games like Volcano Run and Omelette Defender that caused a lot of people to get frozen unfortunately. Eventually, I decided that I was fed up... I would make -one- last account. My name is Jazz, so that bit is easy to figure out... and for the rest of my time on Neopets, this would be my final account. Whilst I had it, I would make sure I would be invincible!
Something obviously worked, since it's the first time I've ever lasted longer than 14 months, first time I ever had a Neopet with more than 120HP... and certainly the first time I've ever been asked to do interviews as a result of my Neopet playing!
I must dash, British Intelligence is calling me. *tttsssshhhhh* British Intelligence? Yes, Jazz Perry one-double-three-seven here... mmhm... ok... I'm on my way!
I'll be back in 5!
-short wait-
Jenn: Ahem, have you ever had any other Neopet usernames? If so, what are they?
Jazz_Invincible:
Too many! jazz_perry, jazz_saxgod, _jazz_saxgod_, jazz_uk, jazz_saviour, jazz_not_invincible, jazz_gallery.... and a hidden chat account that only around 5 or so people know!
Jenn: Have you ever received any NeoPets warnings?
Jazz_Invincible: Yes. It's a common myth that I am "untouchable" to getting into trouble, or even the rumour that I am a member of TNT myself! I wish!
I've had a number of warnings, all different. Spamming, Harrassent, Talking about alcohol, Talking about sexual "stuff"... I've even had a number of personalised warnings. One was for when I was frozen when my account was about 5months old. I created a big board on the Help Chat, getting everyone all riled up until I was unfrozen. I -did- get unfrozen, but was given a rather mean warning about my actions. I fully deserved it, but I was an angry person! There have been a few others, including some that were given by mistake, and almost immediately after... I got a "second warning" that apologised for the first! Haha... I would say I deserved around 4 or so of the warnings I've been given... a few of them I have no idea what I did, and some others were as a result of me not being in the account. I've been hacked 3 times, and before staff realised it wasn't me in the account, warnings were given out.
People often ask why it is I haven't been frozen. The rules I've broken have been fuzzy, and Iv'e not really done anything bad. I don't cheat, I am generally nice to people, I try not to spam. IIf you continuously break the same rule, or do something major... it's then that your account is frozen.
Jenn: Why did you decide to start collecting avatars?
Jazz_Invincible: It just gave me something to do. This was back when they first came out. They didn't show on your lookup, and there was no high score table. BGC cost me 600k, MSPP was about the same. Adam only had 24,000 NP out and the avatar craze hadn't hit enough to really ever affect inflation. When the Chokato (TCG) avatar came out, I bought the card for 4,500 NP... and it took days to go unbuyable.
At one point, I think I actually owned every single avatar that TNT had created... until they started bringing out the old Meridell/Darigan war ones... and the TCG competition to get the Wizard Avatar. It was at that point, I gave up a little... until the High Score Board came out. I realised I was in a good position to be first, and stay there! Prices started to skyrocket, which didn't bother me... since I had all the item avatars. I was in 2nd place, kev1nk was in first. I was one behind. I collected the last couple I needed... and avatar collecting became fun again. The High Score Board introduced tougher competition, since everyone wanted the Avatar Collector's Avatar and Trophy. As you know, since that time... I've moved between 1st and 2nd a couple of times. But it's all in good fun!
In fact, I have a screenshot of the day I received the Avatar Collector's Avatar. With only 42 avatars!

Jenn: What is your favorite type of avatar (clickable, battledome, retired, etc.)?
Jazz_Invincible: I can't stand clickables. They're a lazy person's avatar! I think the ones you really have to work for are the best. Difficult game scores, expensive items... Stamp avatars. I don't see the point of lots of clickable avatars being released. There is a scoreboard! What's fun about everyone on the board going up by 1 each time an avatar comes out?
The other avatars I hate, are the random ones. I -despise- them. What's so skillful about getting lucky? It's frustrating to still not have the Snowager avatar, Fishing avatar, Scalawag avatar and Brightvale avatar... just because I'm not going there at the precise second. (As of 13th August 2005).
Jenn: Do you have any tips for fans on becoming an avatar collector like yourself?
Jazz_Invincible: Be prepared to put in a fair bit of practice... and saving of NP. I suggest stocking up on common Avatar items. Paint Brushes for example. You never know when one of those will be hit with avatar inflation!
Other than that... you'll need lots of perseverence and dedication. It's frustrating when you don't get those random avatars after 50,60, 70+ attempts... but as some people have shown, it IS still possible to reach the Top 50 and get the Collectors Avatar. Then on the first of the month, go for that trophy! I make sure to stay off the scoreboards until after trophy time on the first. I never used to, since personally... I think people should have to earn the avatar and trophy, and not get an easy ride just because scores have reset. But, I'm thinking of being a bit nicer!
Jenn: Would you ever bribe The NeoPets Team into giving you the retired avatars (if you already haven't...)?
Jazz_Invincible: Haha... how else do you think I got all my stamps? ;o No, not really... I think I jokingly bribed Snarkie once on the boards... but no, I'd not ever cheat my way into getting avatars. The sneakiest I'd be is to maybe suggest that they bring back the Darigan Redeemed avatra for when Darigan is feeling nice... ;D
Jenn: Do you hate it when people pretend to be you, or does it amuse you and give you something to laugh about?
Jazz_Invincible: I find it pathetic, and amusing. The only boards I truly dislike are the idiots who say stupid things about me, say horrible things about me.. and those that make judgemental statements on my family, friends and social life - just because I happen to be pretty good at a game. Jealousy is a disgusting thing...
Jenn: What is your guild like?
Jazz_Invincible: It's o0ber! Like chocolate milkshakes, a rainbow on a sunny - yet rainy day, an ice cold Rootbeer when you're dying for a drink and... like winning the TYS Jackpot... all rolled in to one.
We don't actually like giving away too much about the guild. But, it's mostly a guild of 30-50 close friends who share the common interest of not being complete idiots, and enjoying Neopets. We all mess about and chat on the boards, have silly polls... and get bored with the layout almost weekly, so that's constantly changing!
Basically? It's just a fun place for friends to hang out.
Jenn: Are you staff at any Neopets help sites? If so, which ones?
Jazz_Invincible: Keeping up with my account, my LiveJournal (I'm jazzsaxgod), my friends in real life and my 39hour/week job means I don't have time to run any help sites.
Jenn: Do you visit Neoextreme.com? If yes, under what name, if no, why not?
Jazz_Invincible: Rarely, and I haven't ever signed up. I only actually found out the site existed not so long ago... from a... shall we say... interesting... post on NNN.
Jenn: What other sites do you visit (often)?
Jazz_Invincible: Yahoo, Livejournal, Neopets, Weebl and Bob.
Jenn: How long do you spend practicing games?
Jazz_Invincible: Anything from 5 minutes to... I think my longest practicing was around 6 hours of non stop playing... which I rarely get time to do anymore. I'm naturally good at a lot of the games which come out, though recently... my lack of time has prevented me getting too high a score.
Jenn: What is your favorite NeoPets item, game, avatar, staff member, and pet?
Jazz_Invincible: Easy!
Item - NERKMIDS!
Game - Attack of the Slorgs. I love the game. I broke 10,000 points in it, but it didn't send. It's still great fun to play though! I'm also a big fan of Jelly Blobs of DOOM.
Avatar - My Tyrannian Stamp Collector's Avatar. I like to use one that is rare, and not often used. I've grown very attached to this one.
Staff Member - You want me to pick from such a great group of people?! [/sucking up] I would have to say... Snarkie, for her sense of humour and the fact she programs the avatars... Darcy, for her excellent running of the Neopian Times. Both Darcy and her predecessor, Felicia are very helpful with anything relating to the Times... Dragona, even if she does like to steal my socks... and if he's still about... Bryan! He was always helpful on Support with replying to emails, and even though he no longer works on Support, he was a great staff member.
Pet - I like Shoyrus. My first pet was a Blue Shoyru, as was Invinciblade originally. I quite like Fire Draiks, and a few other Dragonlike pets. The Marshmallow Grundo is awesome too! xD
Jenn: Nina (loveprint) has a quick question: Do you like me?
Jazz_Invincible: I don't know you! So... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and just say yes!
Jenn: Pick one: Petpet lab or pet lab?
Jazz_Invincible: Petpet Lab. Nothing cuter than a Pile of Soot! ;D
Jenn: Pick one: Having all the hidden tower items, or having all the avatars?
Jazz_Invincible: Well, I'm only missing a few avatars... around 6-8 in total that are still achievable... and I'm already top, so what's the point? I'll take the 300+mil of HT items thanks... that'll give me enough NP to buy the stamps I need, with a little extra to finish my gallery!
Jenn: Pick one: Pepsi or coke?
Jazz_Invincible:
WHY IS THERE NO OPTION FOR ROOTBEER!?!?! HOW RUDE! Pfft...
Coca Cola all the way. Pepsi is flat tasting, far too sweet... and just not as good.
Jenn: Pick one: James Bond or Austin Powers?
Jazz_Invincible: Austin Powers... YEAH BABY!
Jenn: Pick one: Star Wars or NeoPets?
Jazz_Invincible: I'm proud to say that I have never, ever given in to the Star Wars hype. I watched about half of Episode 4 a few years back... and it bored me to tears. I didn't even bother watching 5, 6, 1, 2 or 3.
Neopets all the way. Star Wars is only good as a cure to insomnia.
Jenn: Pick one: Monkies or Dogs?
Jazz_Invincible: Dogs. I already have 2 monkies... although my mum keeps telling me they're my sisters... *shrug*
Jenn: Pick one: Summer or winter?
Jazz_Invincible: Winter definitely. Good food, nice and cool... it's easier to warm yourself up, then to cool yourself down in Summer. Not to mention CHRISTMAS IS IN WINTER! I'm a big fan of acting like a big kid, and playing in the snow, too. =)
Jenn: Thank you so much for your time Jazz (and sorry about the long interview, our members find you to be quite fascinating). Any closing statements?
Jazz_Invincible: ALL YOUR NERKMID ARE BELONG TO US!
