Introduction

A welcome message to the guide
Deckball is a pretty, simple straight forward game. You use your character to push a ball into the other person's net. The complications? It can be extremely hard to control, random things appear on the board to sabotage the game, and the darn monkey gets smarter as the levels go higher! You have to score on the left side, and protect your goal on the right side.

Controls

How to maneuver your character and play the game
  • Use left and right to use for directional purposes, and up and down for movement.
  • Picking your options

Figuring out what you want to play when you start up the game
To first start off the game, there is two things you must choice from first. How hard the level is, and how you want to play. There are three kinds of difficulty: Swabby (easy), First Mate (medium), and Captain (hard). Neopets can ONLY be earned by playing the Captain level. As suggested by The Neopets Team, you should play Captain if you're just beginning so you can at least recieve neopoints for your effort.

Once you have selected your level, you must choose a mode. The first one available is Survival, which is the only mode that applies to the Deckball's High Score Table. If you're looking to score a trophy, select survival mode. In Survival, your object is to score as many points before Mirgle even gets a chance to score one, because as soon as he scores, the game is over. In Timed, you are required to score as many goals are you can in 3 minutes. You will only receive points if you score more than Miragle, which is 20 points (60 neopoints) per goal. The third option is Points Mode in which it is a competion to see who scores five goals first.

    Playing the Game: Survival

Figuring out what you want to play when you start up the game
Survival, which is the only mode that applies to the Deckball's High Score Table, can be very tricky to play. If you do try to get the trophy, do it near the beginning of the month when the scores have reset. In Survival, your object is to score as many points before Mirgle even gets a chance to score one, because as soon as he scores, the game is over. You can score up to a maximun of 200 points (20 per goal), but that doesn't mean you can't score more than that! 200 points is 600 neopoints, so don't be disappointed by the score.

When the ball is dropped, hang back and guard your goal. You should try and be at one of the ends of your goal (left or right at the posts), so you can quickly rush to the ball. Also be sure you are between the ball and your goal. If miragle gets passed you, he can easily score and the game is over. By guarding your goal and only giving the ball a few nudges here and there, you make it easier to get points and guard your goal.

    Playing the Game: Timed

Figuring out what you want to play when you start up the game
In Timed, you are required to score as many goals are you can in 3 minutes. You will only receive points if you score more than Miragle, which is 20 points (60 neopoints) per goal. Unlike Survival, you don't need to stay back and guard your goal as much. When the ball is dropped, rush out and try to knock the ball into Miragle's goal. Being able to aim to shoot the ball into Miragle's goal can be extremely difficult and takes a lot of pratice to get down. If Miragle does get the ball, let him score. Instead of wasting time by fighting over the ball, you get another chance to run at the ball and score. Be sure you are still ahead in points!

    Playing the Game: Points Mode

Figuring out what you want to play when you start up the game
The third option is Points Mode in which it is a competion to see who scores five goals first. But, keep in mind that if it takes you more than 6 minutes to beat miragle, you will receive nothing, and you will only receive 150 points for your win. This game is great for practice! This is a mix of both survival and timed, where you have to guard your goal AND race for the ball. Good luck!

Arg, matey, I will get 5 before you!

    Game Scoring

    How the game is scored
Now that you know which one you'd like to choice (difficult and which to play), here is how the game is scored:
    • First to 5 goals (Practice) - 50 Points
    • Survival (Medium) - maximum 200 Points
    • Timed (Super Hard) - maximum 1000 Points

    Obstacles

Beware of all the obstacles on deck!
In any of the modes you play, obstacles will appear on the deck to try and mess you up. These obstacles include walls that appear to block the goals, masts the pop up from the deck, and a hole in front of the goal that can cause a lot of trouble if your ball goes in! Beware of the item shaped like an anchor, it will make your player move very slowly! Getting the crackers will help speed you up!
