Tutorial

Now for what you came for!
1. I was bored so I made this tutorial to explain the "shimmering" effects some graphics designers often have in their graphics. For this tutorial I will be using three images from Mission Impossible III.

2. First off, we need to blend our two images so open up a new document (in our case 500x267px) and paste the two images. Now click on the lasso tool and set the feather to 5 px. Make sure anti-aliased is checked. Select the areas of the two layers which you don't want to use (the background for example) and press delete on your keyboard.

3. After selecting and deleting, we add some brushes and end up with something like this:

4. Make a new layer and fill it with white. In the layers palette click on the arrow once selecting the mode "normal" and choose screen. Of course, there is no apparant change, but now select some brushes (make sure the foreground color is black) and use them on your blend. Magic! =P

5. We're not finished yet! Choose a texture and paste it as a new layer. Select overlay.
