Tutorial
Now for what you came for!
2. Go to your layers pallete and double click on the "Background" layer. It should change to "Layer One" after that. This makes the layer "unlocked" and makes it a lot easier to edit.

3. Select the Magic Tool and begin clicking parts around the image you wish to delete. You can use "Shift" to select more areas. I was lucky that in this picture, it basically selected the whole picture but most pictures you won't be so fortunate.

3. Once you've done that, go to New > Layer.
4. Select a dark colour that isn't on the main image (I used gray), and go Control+Alt OR Control+Delete depending on which forebackground the colour is on. (If its on the top, use alt. If its on the bottom, use delete. See image below for instructions.).

5. Move the layer below the faerie pteri layer. The point of this is to make the background pieces more visible so you know what to erase.

6. Use the eraser and magic tool to delete the parts around the pteri and anything you don't want.
7. Once you're done, delete the gray layer and save your image as a .PSD format.
